Dinah's Show

What a beauty!!!

And what fun it was to find this beauty of a bowl at my friend Dinah Katague King's display at the latest show from Walnut Creek Civic Arts.  (If you live in the East SF Bay in California, you should definitely check them out.)

Here is my friend Dinah.  We went to high school together.  And this year, we are both turning . . . . a very big, round, significant number :)

We both agree that one of the nicest things about turning that big, round, significant number is that kids get older, friends get even better, and there is more room and time to let the right sides of our brains play . . . with ART!!!!

And in Dinah's case, that involves clay and ceramic loveliness.  As is evidenced right here.

My very favorite of these pieces are made using a very old technique.  Sometimes know as "agateware," these pieces are made with clays that are already-colored when thrown (by potters who know how) on the wheel.

How anyone can make such pieces is an absolute stunner to me, whose own wheel-throwing experiences have not produced anything even fire-able.  So, I'm filled with admiration for Dinah's lovely artwork.

Spirals and swirls.  Wonderful colors.  So cool.

Rock on, Dinah!!!! Here's to all of us following all of our muses, as often as possible!!!
