Welcome to Bean Up The Nose Art's newest brick & mortar friend.
The Fig Garden has been serving the Ross Valley community for 40 years. Its first incarnation was as a plant store, selling exotics in cool architectural-style pots and arrangements. It morphed from there into one of the first kitchen/home stores . . . like Williams-Sonoma before the world knew Williams-Sonoma. Then it began including furnishings in a big-square-foot store. And for the past eight years, it's all been cooked down into a fine reduction sauce of exquisite finds in its sweet space at 421 San Anselmo Avenue in San Anselmo.
Where from the name "Fig Garden"? Wonderful owner Leslie C. shared the story of how her late husband, who began the whole enterprise, came from fine Italian stock . . . and whose family would not let him plant flowers as a boy under the fig tree because a) flowers were not utilitarian enough (like food) and b) nothing would grow under a fig tree.
But he proved them all wrong. And now, you can reap the lovely harvest of his and Leslie's visions . . . .
Thanks very much for carrying Bean Up The Nose Art cards, Fig Garden! It's such a treat to see them in your space.
And to spy Bean's "2011" fun-on-a-stick right there in your front window display.
