Finding a new printshop is a lot like dating

I am in love with MJC Copy and Stationery in Coupeville, Washington.  LOVE THEM.  They do awesome work.  But our long-distance relationship when I am down here in West Marin is a little tricky, timing-wise and volume-wise.  So we've agreed to see other people.  (We are not broken up.  We still do lots of work together.)

Thus, the angst of having to find a new printshop.  Which brings up a lot of the same questions one has when dating.  Like, will we get along?  Will we be able to work out our differences?  Are you reliable?  Are you The One?

And then, there's all the baggage that one brings along from other failed printshop relationships.  Like, are YOU going to use the wrong kind of cardstock in rush orders, too?  Are you not going to see that the white color in this run has turned out a mottled gray?   Are you going to try tell me that it is fine to send a JPEG file over the internet with my artwork and the colors will be the same -- when I know THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE?

Thus, it was with a mix of great hope and just as much trepidation that I picked up Beans first order this week from the Fed Ex Office store on 4th Street in Santa Rosa.  Recommended by sales reps.  Seemed great on our "first date," where they printed out a proof of each piece of artwork.

But what were things really going to be like?

YAY!!!!  They did a great job!  Excellent, professional card-stock feel . . . awesome clarity . . . great job on the color and consistency throughout.

I could be falling for them.  Hard.  (But don't say anything . . . I don't want to jinx it.)

Get ready for some brand spankin' new Valentine's Day cards on the website this week.  (And holiday card and other sales items.)

And I still love you, MJC Copy and Stationery!!!!!
