I'm grateful for The Oystercatcher, a fabulous restaurant here in Coupeville, Washington . . . owned and operated by equally-fabulous Jamie and Joe Scott:
As their website describes, "Jamie and Joe purchased and then remodeled The Oystercatcher restaurant, featuring local, sustainable Whidbey Island products prepared simply and served in a comfortable seaside setting. Jamie and Joe were married on the 29th of September, 2007, and now live in Coupeville with their cat Zoe."
What, you may ask, is an oystercatcher? It is a kind of bird. And when the restaurant's open, they're "eating."
Along with being grateful for all of the wonderful meals they've served me, and for all of the social kindnesses they and their families have extended to me in my transplant "neighbor" status, I am grateful to Joe and Jamie for asking Bean Up The Nose Art to design cards specially for The Oystercatcher. Thanks, guys! YOU ROCK!!
I'm fortunate to rent a house exactly one block away from this eatery, which works out great when one needs to waddle home after a dinner that includes a great glass of wine (or two . . . .) and dessert. Seriously. If you ever get the chance to have one of their poached pears or parfaits for dessert? Do. Not. Pass. It. Up.

so that their fabulous staff can serve you delicious meals as you look out the windows at Penn Cove:

I am an admitted food snob. This would be a great restaurant in any big city. The chef does not "call it in" from the flagship in Las Vegas. This is real hands-on preparation. And, the wine list equals the food.
